Women’s Ministry Book ReVIEW

Saunti Feldhahn is aa nationally syndicated newspaper columnist, public speaker, and a best-selling author of For Women Only.

Shaunti holds a masters degree in public policy from Harvard University, and worked on Wall Street and Capitol Hill before becoming a surprise bestselling non-fiction author in 1998.

This wife of attorney and co-author Jeff Feldhahn and mother of two, now applies her analytical skills to illuminating those important, surprising truths that people really need to understand about each other.  Her books for adults include For Women Only,  For Men Only and For Parents Only and for teens - For Young Women Only, and For Young Men Only. Each book is based on a nationwide survey and more than 1,000 personal interviews.
The result: candid expressions of the difficult-to-communicate-but-true inner feelings and thoughts of the men, women and teens surveyed. What makes Shaunti’s books and speaking events so successful is her ability to communicate so clearly what she learned from the survey about the inner longings, the reasons behind the exasperating words, and what your spouse or teen would tell you if only they could trust you to truly listen … what they say will surprise you!

 



Alzheimer's Support Group
Thursday, February 11th
The Alzheimer’s Family Support Group meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7pm on the Sugarloaf UMC campus.  As always, our church family as well as the community are invited to become better informed on the topics which deal with caregiving for family members facing health care issues, not just Alzheimer’s.  For more information, please contact Judy Malley at 770-995-0777 or call the Sugarloaf UMC Congregational Care Ministry office at 678-684-6027.

 

 




Men's Network Monthly Fellowship Breakfast
Saturday, February 13th

The SUMC Men's Network invites all men to the Monthly Fellowship Breakfast.  Enjoy a hot breakfast, great fellowship and a guest speaker. 
Our next breakfast will be on Saturday, February 13th from 8:00am - 9:30am in the Rec Center (campus map).

Our special guest speaker for February is Joshua Sieweke, Church/Volunteer Coordinator for the Atlanta office of World Relief will be speaking to us about their role in refugee resettlement for the estimated 900 refugees expected to resettle in the Atlanta area in 2010 and the role of the church in serving those in need just down the road from Sugarloaf, UMC.

 Starting Point Classes 

Starting Point is a 4 week class that meets Sunday mornings at 9:30am.  This informational class discusses the history, mission, purpose and future of SUMC.  This class is a pre-requisite for membership.

"Sugarloafers" Senior's Ministry

Fellowship and Lunch

Everyone age 50+ is invited to the Church Library on Thursday, February 25th at 10:30am to enjoy fellowship and plan future activities for the Sugarloafers.  The group will reassemble at Marlow's Tavern, 1950 Satellite Blvd in Duluth for lunch. 

If you are over 50 and would like to join the "Sugarloafers" this is an awesome time to meet everyone and get involved.

2010 Men's Retreat
March 5-6

 

Dates: March 5th-6th from 6pm Friday to 5:00 pm Saturday
Location: Strong Rock Retreat Center near Cleveland, GA.
Topic: Putting together the pieces of G.R.A.C.E by being,
 
Giving Ready Active Compassionate Enthusiastic

We will listen to several different speakers talk about how God's Grace has influenced and shaped their lives.  There will be time to hang out and get to know other men of the church, fun activities and time to reflect on God's Grace in your own lives.  The cost this year has been reduced to $99.00, which includes retreat registration, 1 night lodging and 3 meals.  This promises to be a great time of learning, fellowship and fun.

We want to make our Women's Ministry here at SUMC the very best it can be & we cannot do it with out each one of you wonderful ladies at Sugarloaf UMC.
Please join us the 2nd Tuesday of each month for our Monthly Planning Meeting.
Our next meeting will be Tuesday, March 9th from 7-8:30pm in the Library.
