PRAYER MINISTRIES

We’re convinced that prayer is powerful and effects changes in people’s lives. Not just the people being prayed for but also the person doing the praying. Because we know prayer works, a number of teams have been formed.
Take a look!

Prayer Starters

Back to School Prayers

In the midst of the dog days of summer, it’s hard to believe that it’s back to school time for our children. Here are a few prayer starters to guide you in your daily devotional time throughout the school year.

Peace
Father God, I ask for a special peace to be present within my family during this school year. Help us to focus on what is important. Help us to let go of those things that are not worthy of our time and energy. Help our family adjust to our new schedule. Take away any stress, pressure, or anxiety that any of us are prone to feel. Help us to live at peace with one another and to love You with all of our mind, heart, strength, and spirit. Amen.

Deuteronomy 10:12
Romans 12:18
Mark 12:30

Safety
Father, please keep my child’s school safe this year. Place a hedge of protection around each student there, around the teachers and administrators, and around all the schools in our community. I must admit that it is hard to let go of a little ones hand. In fact, it is doubly hard to turn the car keys over to a teenaged child who is quite able to drive to school; yet we must send them on their way. Help me to let go and allow my son/daughter to be all that you have created him/her to be. Make Your presence known to my child each and every day of the school year. In Jesus name, Amen.

Psalm 62:8
Psalm 9:10

Acceptance
Dear Lord, We are created to be in relationship with you and one another. Please allow my child the opportunity to forge healthy relationships that will promote personal growth with teachers and other students. Surround my child with Godly, Christian friends and those who will be a good influence on his/her life. Likewise, let your light shine through my child so that it is evident and obvious to anyone who comes in contact with him/her that he/she is a Christian. Keep his/her faith strong and help him/her to make wise decisions and choices in his/her daily life. In Your Holy Name I pray, Amen.

2 Chronicles 15:7
Romans 14:19
Proverbs 7:17A

Attitude
God, we recognize that children are our future. I pray for a right attitude and spirit to be about my child this school year. Help him/her to be a receptive and eager learner. Strengthen the minds and hearts of all students and make this time be a positive time of inspiration, exploration, and impactful learning. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

1 Thessalonians 1:3
Psalm 51:10

Encouragement
Father, we are created in your image and the Bible reminds us that You care for each one of us.  We are specially and wonderfully made. Surround those students who struggle with the education process with individuals who will offer encouragement and positive support. Help those who have been given authority of the circumstance to rise to a level of understanding for those who need special attention, special teaching, and special care. Together, help us to create a community of care, affirmation, and understanding for our children. Amen.

1 Thessalonians 5:11
Psalm 139:14
2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

Character
Dear Lord, I pray that my child will take a mature approach to the learning process this school year. Bless him/her with a yearning for wisdom and knowledge. Help him/her to grow in character, and strive to accomplish the very best that they are capable of. In a child’s frame of mind and understanding, a school year seems like forever. Make each day be a day of fresh learning, new possibilities and hope filled wonderment! In Christ’s Name I pray, Amen.

Proverbs 23:23
2 Corinthians 9:13
Psalm 119:9-11

Teacher
Father, the job of a teacher is overwhelming – one filled with expectation and hope, but often frustration, as well. In our struggling economy, schools sometimes lack resources and man power. Help our teachers manage the workloads they are given. Help him/her to be prepared for each new day. Help all parents of school-aged children realize that the job of teaching is not only up to the professionals, but is also a responsibility that must be taken seriously at home. Help us form a team to prepare our kids for their future. Amen.

Deuteronomy 4:9
Colossians 3:20
