 New Ministry!!!

Always the 2nd Saturday
Always 8:30am 'til noon
Always welcome

Over 30 people served our first Second Saturday on April 10! Everyone gathered at 8:30……signed up for one of the 4 opportunities that were available and mingled until Larry Parker sent us off with encouraging scripture and prayer. All worked hard, made new friends and were home close to noon!

Our serving partners this first Second Saturday was the Gwinnett County Senior Citizens who directed us to two homes of the elderly where we did yardwork and socialized. Family Promise asked us to beautify their outdoor area at the Day Center. We organized collections and cleaned at the Wellspring Thrift Store and cleaned out closets, landscaped and hid 500 Easter Eggs at the Gwinnett Children’s Shelter.

Please join us for our next Second Saturday on July11th.  We will have similar and new serving opportunities.

Bring your family, neighbors and friends.

No sign-ups, skills and appropriate for all ages!

A Great Day of Service 2009-Recap

Great Day of Service 2009

Our Great Day of Service on March 28, 2009 was a great success!  A lot of new friendships were made.  We had over 550 people who served on 37 different projects.  Even with the rain, folks aswered the call to be "the hands and feet of Christ" and made the committment to make a "Day of work a Life of Service."  This call led to the development of a new ministry called "Second Saturday"  where every second Saturday of the month people just come at 8:30am ready to serve where ever there is a need and they are always done by noon.

Sugarloaf UMC would like to thank all who served and the people below who made
Great Day of Service a big success.

Lynn Stewart - Great Day of Service Leader - Lynn.Stewart@tig.com

Phyllis remke - Project Coordinator - mattandphyllis@bellsouth.net

A Great Day of Service 2008 - "More Than A Day"  RECAP

Our 6th annual Great Day of Service on March 29, 2008 was the best yet!  With over 650 people serving 37 agencies ... we truly impacted our community by being the hands and feet of Christ.  And yet, it was only a day. As we grow spiritually and mature in our faith we should act on Jesus’ command to GO … make disciples of all nations.  We should feel compelled to make giving and serving a part of our daily lives.

Following are many of the agencies that we served during our Great Day of Service. These agencies have ongoing opportunities for serving.  Explore the needs, find your passion, answer Jesus’ call to GO and make
A Great Day of Service more than a day!
